Feel free to browse around! Although I appreciate criticism, it'd be more helpful if you criticised the recent work I've done and not the older things.

Favourites

You should have a look through here if you like fantasy art, lovely colours/styles, Minecraft/Yogscast, and various few other things.

Artist | Student | Traditional Art
United Kingdom
My name is Vicky Jarvis, I am seventeen years old, and I wish to become an animator. Among this I would like to publish a fantasy novel and perfect my drawing skills.

Call me socially awkward, because I tend to over-analyse things and dislike the term 'chin-wagging' for its meaning. A conversation for the sake of a conversation? For no reason at all? Preposterous! My logic tells me conversations have meaning in all circumstances; to entertain, to inform, to pass time, to console, to discover shared interests.

I'm open to meeting all sorts of people. If you've just so happened to meander to this page, and you feel a tad apprehensive about saying hello, then don't. There's no reason to be unfriendly towards a stranger(unless they've just done something horrible to you--if I have, then chances are I had my reason. If I didn't, I apologize most sincerely). Should you feel compelled to compliment or criticize my art, you have the freedom to do either. It's the internet after all.

But if you don't know what to say, then know that I quite like cats, fantasy things, strawberry milkshake and baking. At the moment I'm in college(for the other side of the Atlantic, in North America, I think it's the equivalent to the last two years of highschool)and I'm a tad busy to keep up with hobbies... but in the time I do get I like to nibble things, nap, fall into periods of dissociation aka. daydream, and um. Forget things.

I am not a daydreaming hamster. I don't think.
Interests
I had my art exam today. It was 5 hours long, and it was all going reasonably well... until the very last hour. Finishing off the last outer ring of my... thing? It's got a large variety of media in it. But, just adding a bit more colour and lighter areas here and there, and then being typically clumsy as I am, I manage to spill my pot of water. In fact I spilled it all over the 'Thing' I had just been working on for the past 4 hours, and bearing in mind this is an exam. For several moments I just sat there staring, not really registering quite what had happened. Then my teacher rushed towards me with tissue paper and every thing, and the exam invigilator, and we furiously tried to dab away all of the mess. Another thing to take note of is the fact I'm too lazy to change my water a lot of the time, so it was all greyish purple and murky.
But here's the thing--the spillage seemed to make my work better! I guess that makes a statement about my art. : P

I'm aware I'm repeating myself from earlier journals, but I should have more time to spend from now on. I can get home earlier on some days, and I have less lessons; more so because I've decided I'm going to, err... 'forget' to go to my physics lessons. I'll probably be more productive if I just do lots of past papers and get a good idea of the mark scheme. I'm never going to learn what we're being taught, but I can learn exam technique I suppose.
Mind you, even though I will have more time I'm going to most likely spend it trying to be less stressed; so, that's mostly playing computer games I like, or with my siblings. Recently it's been Diablo 2 with my two brothers, and a bit of the Hack/Slash Minecraft mod with brothers and sister and sister's fiancée also. In Daiblo 2 I'm running around as a lazy necromancer who has a bunch of skeletons do everything for him.

When I'm not playing computer games, I want to try and play around with my drawing style. It's been about a year since I tried drawings things more realistically; although it worked for a little while my drawings have just become more and more Disney-esque, and I'm not so fond of them. It's tedious to even try and sketch out a basic skeleton, and I don't like the faces. Therefore I'm going to play around with other styles(might look at American comics a bit)and try to find an easy/quicker way to produce drawings that I'm fond of and are worth putting on dA. Unless of course, you don't mind if I spam you with crappy uncoloured, unshaded sketches?

So now that that's all covered, you know where I might be if I elope from dA for a short while(quite a few people seem to be temporarily inactive anyway, I assume it's exams or international hiatus). If you're desperate to contact me and you're worried I won't be online when you want to contact me, then I have an email address, facebook and skype.

It's part of Uzimaki, a horror manga by Junji Ito, who I will now refer to only as Man Of A Thousand Screams. He's the one who did The Enigma of Amigara Fault. You know, drr drr drr?

But after reading Uzimaki I'm going vegetarian. I can't think about any meat other than placentas and slug people...

Drr drr drr? I can't say I'm familiar with it.

Lamb is sad but delicious. Moose is also delicious.

First of all, LOVE THE STONE. It reminds me of classic RPG games. So do many other blocks, and it'd be difficult to list my favourites of them all. But I'd probably have to say the bricks, enchanting table, beds and cake are the ones I most like. I also like the paintings you did(such as my tower 8D) and they seem to suit the pack.
If I'm going to poke holes, then I'd say the ores are a bit discreet. In other words, they could be hard to see when down in dark caves; although this could be a good or bad thing, depending on the player supposedly. Some of the items seem a bit indistinguishable from the icons, e.g. the leather or the boat. I'm also not as fond of the single vine.
Even so, I do like it, and when it's finished I'm probably gonna use it(don't usually use texture packs because they confuse me too much).

I love the stone too! Though now that I've added detail to the stone I have to add it to the dirt too...
I just redid the bricks and enchantment table too! :P
I suppose; I'll add a bit more colour to them.
I was planning on remaking some items...particularly the dyes. I made all the dyes unique and then GIMP crashed so I rage-quitted. And I'll redo the vines, it was just a placeholder.

Thank you; and I agree, I used to have like thirteen different texture packs at once and kept switching them. Highly confusing.

I'm looking forwards to it then. :P Oh, and were you going to colour the discs as well? They all looked the same. Maybe you could put different album art on them?

No problem. You watched me, I looked at your profile and you seem like a nice person, and your art style makes me smile. :P
